ABOUT THE DIRECTOR & WRITER

Storyteller & Advocate, Denver Humphrey, 17

β€œFind Me in the Void was inspired by my own personal experience, and the reality that so many Black girls’ stories go untold. I wanted to reimagine the Missing Black Girl narrative β€” not as one of tragedy alone, but as a story of resilience, friendship, and reclaiming one’s agency. Through this film, we’re not just telling a supernatural story, we’re spotlighting a crisis that deserves national attention. I’m honored to lead this project and invite you into this world we created.”

Why This Story Matters

According to the FBI National Crime Information Center, over 30% of missing women and girls reported in the U.S. are Black β€” though Black women and girls make up just 15% of the population. An estimated 90,000 Black girls and women go missing each year, often with little media coverage or public urgency. Through Find Me in the Void, we’re raising awareness and funding for advocacy resources like the Black & Missing Foundation and other community-led initiatives.
